By Peter WarderThe Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard is expected to miss his second consecutive tournament as the club will be without his two midfielders for Euro 2016.
“It’s not a shock,” Hazard said on Friday after training.
“I’ll miss it, obviously.
You know, I’m still a little bit in shock and I’ll just get through it.”
Hazard will be out for the tournament with a hamstring injury.
The 26-year-old joined Chelsea in July 2016 from Werder Bremen and has made 26 appearances since his £28.7m move from Borussia Dortmund in July.
The Belgian is on the shortlist for the Ballon d’Or, but has not played in the competition.
The midfielder is yet to win the competition, but did earn a spot in the Ballons’ squad for the 2015-16 campaign, when he scored against Manchester United in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
Chelsea’s squad will be made up of 18-year old defenders Thibaut Courtois, Nemanja Matic, Willian and Nemanata Diakite, and 18-20-year olds Willian, Eden Hazard and Oscar.
Chelsea face a tough task against Portugal in Group B, which includes a strong run of opponents, as well as France and Croatia.
The first leg will be played on Tuesday, June 19 at 15:00 BST (20:00 CET).
The second leg will take place on June 20, with the third and final leg on June 23.
